Armond Smith was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A.  He came to Taber, Alberta in 1909.  Later homesteading at Formost.  He married Selena Jane Morgan, who came from Bewdley, Worchester, England with her parents to Bow Island, Alberta September 22, 1913.  They were married at Taber October 23, 1917, they lived on the homestead.

In the spring of 1924, they left Formost, and traveled by way of covered wagon to the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baines.  NW -13-39-25-4….

They lived for a short time on the Hardin place, just to the north (Magee Place).  They next lived in a tent on the Roy Baines farm, (Mrs. Roy Baines being another sister.), later to the Walter McCutcheon place.  In the winter of 1924 – 25, they lived in the log house of Lewis Baines adjoining the Melvin place on the west now [1974] owned by Charlie Duffy.  In the spring of 1925 they moved again, to the Melvin place, and farmed there for one year.  While living there, their son Arnold Vivian was born, August 12, 1925.

In the spring of 1926, they moved to the Sargent District, on the SW of 3-40-24-4, now [1974] now owned by Carl Glenn, where they farmed until the fall of 1928, then they moved to the town of Lacombe. 

Mr. and Mrs. Smith had five children, four girls and one boy…..
