THIRTEEN WOMEN WHO ONCE CALLED ALIX HOME: EACH ONE WAS RECOGNISED FOR MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO ALIX AND CANADA.  THEIR BIOGRAPHIES APPEAR ON  “THE WOMEN OF ASPENLAND”, A PAGE ON  www.unlockthepast.ca  Can you match the name to a sampling of each one’s many contributions?

___lived most of her life in the Stanton District, known for her beautiful flowers

___builder of community resources, member of the Rebekahs for 62 years

___first woman cabinet minister in the British Commonwealth

___received the Order of Canada for service to people with mental disabilities

___helped establish the Alix Horticultural Society, owned & operated a bakery

___secretary to many community organizations, newspaper reporter, contributor to Pioneers &

Progress & Gleanings    

___Member of United Church, Rebekah Lodge, Mirror Legion, Alix Wagon Wheel Museum.  By the time her husband returned from WW II, she had saved enough for a tractor.
